Mumbai

Our weekend in Mumbai was a blast! We arrived Friday night a little before Midnight. Our hotel was right on the water, in a really nice area of Mumbai.

Saturday we took a boat out to Elephanta Island to see some caves. The boat ride there took a little over an hour, and was calm, thank goodness. Once there, our tour guide, Chandrakhan showed us the caves, then we shopped, successfully bargained with some local vendors, and saw a ton of monkeys. We took the Deluxe boat back to Mumbai for additional Rs 20. It was money well spent because the ride was more comfortable, and a bit faster.

Saturday night we had drinks at the rooftop lounge at our hotel, then headed to dinner at Indigo. Our dinner was fantastic! The restaurant even printed a special menu in our honor (Welcome Joel Sangria and Friends). After dinner we walked to the Taj Hotel, and partied at its nightclub INSOMNIA. I wasn't feeling much like an insomniac, more like a narcoleptic, actually...I was soooo sleepy. There, we met a few guys from the Australian cricket team, and had a good time watching people on the dancefloor. The music was all techno, all the time -- needless to say, I didn't dance.

Sunday we had brunch at the Taj (its a Sunday tradition) then shopped. We hit up a few stores, an Indian version of a shopping mall, then headed to the airport to catch our flight back to Hyd. All in all, it was a great weekend. I would definitely go back to Mumbai!

Chandrakhan and Me on the boat back to Mumbai. Yes, I actually bought that necklace from him for Rs 120 (Less than 3 USD). Geez, my hair looks a mess...it was really windy!

I think Pepsi pays this monkey to sit here. (Elephanta Island)
